Musculoskeletal Assessment

Range Of Motion Measurement

All of our training clients at Tatsu Dojo Martial Art & Fitness receive a musculoskeletal evaluation on their first visit.

"Why do I need this assessment?"

Regardless of your personal training goals with us, we need to make sure that any program we develop for you is safe and effective.

You may have issues with joint mobility or neuromuscular imbalances that not only affect your day-to-day life, but also may impede your ability to reach your goals and full functional potential.

"What Is Assessed?"

First, we'll evaluate your overall posture.  Even minor deviations can cause muscular and joint pain as well as affected mobility.  Next, well examine your gait patterns to see if you are unknowingly compensating for muscular imbalance.  Then will measure all of our joint motion, e.g. arms, legs, spine, etc., to make sure everything is moving the way it should.  If you have a lack of mobility, you cannot build strength.  We'll test all of your muscular strength from head-to-toe and assess and painful areas.  We'll also look at any "tight spots"such as shoulders, knees, hips, etc.

"What Happens Next?"

We'll talk about everything we see on the assessment and make sure you understand what we're seeing.  Then we'll give you a few exercises, stretches or other things to do at home and build a complete exercise protocol based on your findings.

During your first visit, we'll discuss your goals and concerns and talk about next steps.

"What Happens After My Visit?"

We will build a custom workout plan for your, complete with the results of your assessment.  Then, we'll send you an exercise protocol, either written or video (your choice) detailing each phase of your plan.

"Will I Come Back For Another Visit?"

We leave that up to you. Most people benefit from having a seasoned professional guide them through an exercise protocol.  We'll be there to answer questions or concerns, change or progress your program as needed.  But most of our clients schedule subsequent visits, especially those involved in rehabilitation or strength training.
